Born in sunny St. Maarten, the smallest island in the world partitioned between two nations (France and Holland), Fay Helfer was raised in a colorful family of artists and musicians. She caught the ‘need to create’ bug from an early age (with no hope for recovery), constantly inspired by her surroundings, humor, the ambiguity of scale, the whimsical and disturbing, nature, form, syncopation, and CHOCOLATE. This undying urge brought her to the Savannah College of Art and Design, where she studied Sculpture and graduated with an MFA in Animation. Fay’s first animated short has screened internationally at over a dozen festivals and counting. Continuing on a westward migration across this planet, Fay can now be found creating in the San Francisco Bay area, CA.
