In early 2002
Jeff, a San Diego native and art gallery curator, met Brandon, a designer recently relocated to Los Angeles, California from Houston, Texas. It was the start of a long friendship that evolved into KULT Studio.

“It was an exciting time. We were all pretty fresh out of college and we were a part of this great little community of designers, artists, musicians in Los Angeles. Everybody was doing their thing, just making cool stuff. I worked the gallery during the day and at night played guitar in a band."

"I had just moved to LA and was creating websites with some super talented web designers and developers, me being a huge computer geek, I was having a blast. Coming to California was really an inspirational move for me and meeting people like Jeff made you just want to create something together."

"We just started hanging out as friends. Both of us had worked for various companies and we enjoyed our work… I mean we love great art, music, film and design so to be in that environment constantly surrounded by other talented, creative people was great. But I think both of us were looking for something more: We wanted to work for ourselves!"

"I remember Jeff giving me a call. He was like 'Yo. I got an idea and think we can do something great together.' At the time I didn't know we would be talking about starting a company together but once we met up and Jeff started to tell me his idea I was really into it…having a love for art how could you not love it."

"I had an idea but no real clear vision at first. I just knew together we could do something really cool. Something different that nobody else was doing, and I knew Brandon was the one who was going to bring the idea to life."

"After a some more meetings and discussions with Jeff we really started to see the idea for the company develop, but neither of us had ever ran a business we had a lot of things to learn. We knew one thing for sure, we wanted to make a beautiful place online where people could easily browse and buy all the cool art that we are into at the time. “

"LA and NY have some great art galleries. We love visiting galleries and exhibitions too, but we also wanted to reach out to people everywhere and give them a fun, visually-stimulating and non-intimidating art buying experience online."

"After we had a name and a plan we set out to build the site. It's been really fun to work on and it's forever growing and evolving. Surrounding ourselves with new artwork and artists just spawns more creative ideas for us. It really does keep us hungry to learn more so we can constantly better the experience for everyone."

What's next.
"We're very excited about the newest version of the site and the up-and-coming artists we are offering. We're sponsoring the launch of an arts and culture iPad magazine called "Manipulate" which is really cool. We'll be continuing our pop-up galleries and are toying with a few more ideas that we think everyone will love. Stay tuned!"
